New Hiking Trails Discovered

Joel and I both had the day off today and so we spent most of the day driving around looking at houses (without getting out of the car) for sale that we can't really afford just yet. We also discovered Lakeland Highlands Scrub - a large, undeveloped scrub area owned by the county with a couple of hiking trails. We took Draco and Rhiannon on a quick walk through part of it and it seems like a really great place. We haven't really been hiking since we moved back to Lakeland, mostly because we always just go to the dog park instead but also because we don't want to drive too far. When we lived in Tampa (well, Lutz, actually, but who's heard of that?) we often went to Violet Curry Nature Preserve Loop to walk Draco and hike in the shade. It was a nice place and I'm glad we've finally found a comparable site here in Lakeland, although Lakeland Highlands Scrub will not have quite as much shade. We didn't take any pictures, but I plan on going again sometime this week and will bring my camera with me.
